Who are the California Tomato Farmers?

All members of California Tomato Farmers are family-owned farming businesses producing fresh, field grown tomatoes in California. Every member is committed to new standards for how we grow tomatoes. Because California Tomato Farmers is organized as an agricultural cooperative under the Capper-Volstead Act, only farmers are eligible for membership.

California Tomato Farmers is composed of members whose fresh tomatoes are grown by or for the organizations listed below. These tomato-producing firms are considered the most reputable farming businesses in North America. All are family owned and most are operated by the family members. The size of our members' farms range from 300 to 10,000 acres. The average length of time California Tomato Farmers members have been in business is over 56 years.

California Tomato Farmers members farm in the major central and southern coast regions of California. We are active participants in our communities and employ hundreds of seasonal and full-time employees in the cities and towns where we have operations. Our members are leaders in adopting Integrated Pest Management systems which use a variety of non-chemical methods combined with the careful use of registered pesticides to control pests and diseases. All members employ staff or contract with experts to oversee pest management programs.
